FFF held a two-days meeting on the accountability of civil society
 
 

 

5th May 2010- The Foundation for the Future is organizing an Expert Group Meeting on “Tools for Enhancing CSO Accountability: Lessons Learnt from International Practices”. The meeting which takes place in Amman, Jordan  during 9th and 10th May 2010 will bring together experts from more than 15 countries including Jordan, USA, Uganda, Egypt, Palestine, Pakistan, Tunisia and Morocco. 

The meeting avails an important opportunity for representatives of the civil society organizations’ (CSOs) in the broader MENA region to be acquainted with a set of culturally applicable tools for CSO accountability. This will be the outcome of the vigorous exchange of worldwide experiences, with special consideration to lessons-learnt and good practices.  “At the end of the two-day meeting, participants will be expected to have a clearer understanding of the CSO’s accountability and the advantages and disadvantages of its various tools, while at the same time be able to share their experiences on various tools and be encouraged to take initiatives in that respect.” said Mrs. Nabila Hamza the President of the Foundation for the Future.

The Experts Group Meeting also aims to create a network of experts on CSO accountability. This will provide both the CSOs and the Foundation for the Future with the appropriate insight for relevant future interventions and better involvement toward enhancing CSO accountability.

Information on the outcome of the meeting will be broadly disseminated in the region with the purpose of undertaking concrete steps to advance the effectiveness of CSO and strengthen their role in promoting the principles of human rights and democracy. 

The immediate output of the meeting will be the preparation of a comprehensive report that includes lessons learned from the use of various tools of CSO accountability and a set of recommendations on how to further pioneer initiatives in this field.

Over 80 participants, including government officials, international experts, and CSO representatives from around the world will take part in this event.
